Pregnancy is love, an intimate time between the mother and the future baby, in which this feeling must be allowed to be enjoyed. We try to avoid any instrumental intervention. It is also a time to prepare for delivery and for the first phases of your baby’s life. Our team of midwives will help you.

We offer you the possibility of taking a guided tour to know the facilities of the Natural Childbirth Unit of the Nuevo Belén Clinic, to clarify all the doubts that may arise.

We believe that giving you all the informing you need is very important, it is part of our philosophy.

It is the birth of your baby, it is your delivery, that is why it is your birth plan. You will do it hand in hand with your One to One Team, they will help you make a decision based on a high level of profesional information about your particular case which will be given to you by your gynecologist and midwife both experts in natural and respected childbirth in water.

In the prenatal preparation, your midwife will inform and prepare you for delivery and breastfeeding, as well as the care of your newborn baby.
Our preparation is aimed at any future mother in a simple and concrete way, explaining what we believe is the essential information so that you can feel safe and confident when the time comes.

One of our differences is that exclusively One to one Care will accompany you from pregnancy until you are at home with your baby.

There are two midwives in our team, Patricia and Marina, you are going to meet them both. They are specialized midwives in natural and respected childbirth and natural childbirth in water.

Depending on the time your baby is born, one of the two will attend to you. Your birth plan will be respected at all times, this will make you feel calm.

We know the importance of feeling cared for in one of the most important stages of life. We believe and advocate respect for the physiological process of pregnancy and childbirth, in a favorable environment for it.

The vast majority of women, when they experience these processes with confidence, security and intimacy, experience the most exciting time of their lives. Our job is to provide these ingredients to women, and to be attentive to detect and solve those situations that are out of the ordinary, with total professionalism and security.

In childbirth the important thing is not to SUFFER. Natual birth is Childbirth without suffering .
Birth is a very intense physiological process, in which mothers experience a new sensation that they have not been exposed to before. In our mothers testimonies, they feel powerful because they are in control and prepared to face the intensity of the birth experience. Our goal is to accompany, help and provide the necessary tools to minimize suffering and achieve a good birth experience.
In a normal non-oxytocin-induced labor, without restriction of mobility, in a supportive environment in which the mother feels safe and comfortable, many women can endure pain without fear and the tension which multiìes pain. According to our 2017 figures, 75% of the women who delivered with our team did not require epidural.

There are several alternatives to epidural:

• Entonox or nitrous oxide is used as an analgesic in childbirth in countries such as Canada, England, Finland, Sweden and Australia. It is very insoluble in blood and other tissues, acts quickly and also allows rapid recovery. It is ideal in labor, as it does not affect the fetus. It allows labor to continue without interfering by not reducing contractions or the feeling of pushing.
• Soaking in hot water in the bathtub significantly reduces pain and facilitates relaxation. It also speeds up the process of dilation, thus shortening the time of delivery. Reduces the risk of perineal tear. You do not have to end labor in water, you can use it only as a form of pain relief. It will be YOUR CHOICE.
• Massage and reassuring physical contact by the person you choose to be with you to relieve pain and anxiety during dilation and the expulsion process.
• Rubber balls facilitate the adoption of comfortable postures.
• Relaxation and breathing techniques help relieve pain.

  Other ways to relieve pain is a hot shower, electric blanket, changes of position ..

The delivery care that we offer is carried out in a safe environment where physiology of your natural process, your preferences You will once again be the active main actor of one of the most exciting events in life: birth. In natural childbirth the mother is in control of her body. You will have the help of the midwife throughout the process, and with great delicacy we will support and guide you during the stages of labor.

In the Natural Delivery Room you will have exclusive care (One to One care) during the active phase of labor and delivery. Continued care and a trusting relationship with the midwife is clsely related to your birth experience.
You will have the possibility of dilation and / or birth in water.
You can be accompanied by the desired people at all times
The possibility of «Natural Childbirth» offered by our team is based on respected delivery and minimal intervention, with professionals trained for it.
In addition, and maintaining safety as one of the premises, the Natural Childbirth Unit has the support of the services of the Nuevo Belén Hospital (Emergency, operating room, resuscitation room, neonatal and adult ICUs)

Advantages of being able to move around freely

• The diameter of the pelvis is enlarged.
  Dilation is faster
• The baby suffers less and is more oxygenated.
• Better alignment of the baby with the birth canal, helping to avoid forceps, caesarean sections and episiotomies.

• Nothing intervenes between you and your child. It is a conscious delivery, in which you are in control
• Recovery is the faster
• Fewer episiotomies due to the help of gravity
• Freedom of movement to choose the most comfortable and effective posture
• Forceps or invasive techniques are not used without medical reason

Advantages of water birth

• The water temperature helps to dilate
  Helps distension of the perineum, reducing tears
• Reduces adrenaline production, improving relaxation
• Increases the generation of endorphins, producing a natural analgesic effect
• The baby suffers less when leaving
• It is a warm, relaxed and comfortable environment

From week 37 onwards, the team of midwives, Marina and Patricia, will be at your disposal on the phone or via WhatsApp, with shifts to provide you with 24-hour atention if needed, we will indicate when is the right time to go to the natural birth unit ( in the hospital) in case of emergency or delivery.

We also have a group of mothers and pregnant One to One where we share information about pregnancy, news and also about baby care.

As soon as the baby is born, it will remain skin-to-skin with the mother. Without rushing you will have two hours to spend with your baby creating that first bond.
The benefits of skin-to-skin are important to both of you. In several studies, evidence has been found that encourages the recommendation of skin to skin for the development of your baby’s microbiota and its natural defenses.

After childbirth, and if you wish, you can start breastfeeding, helping to create the mother-child bond.
After two hours, we will transfer you to the room, where our team will visit you the next day to continue breastfeeding support and follow up until discharge.
At the hospital, you will have early advice and support for breastfeeding by one of our midwives from the Natural Childbirth team through a visit in the first 24 hours postpartum. After discharge, you will receive postpartum care in the gynecology consultation, and we will continue with you with the Home Visit.
You can also have the option of Early Discharge, before 48 hours after delivery.

After you have been discharged, you will receive after birth care in the gynecology clinic, and we will continue with you with the Home Visit.
Once at home, the midwifery team will do a home visit to reinforce the early stages. Breastfeeding support and newborn care are the main goal. *

You will have available telephone assistance with the midwife until the first week after the birth of your baby.

If you wish, we can continue with these visits in case you need it. **

Creating your environmental circumstances, that is, your environment, is essential for childbirth: the light, your candles, your music, the person you want to be with you.

Why is this is important?

Mammalian childbirth occurs thanks to a complex and sophisticated cocktail of hormones, one of the least known is oxytocin.

As Michel Odent explains, oxytocin is a «shy» hormone, which is affected by the secretion of stress hormones, and also by all those environmental circumstances. Creating circumstances that make a woman feel confortable with the right temperature lighting, and feeling safe with a team who she knows all make the childbirth process flow.

All these environmental circumstances are easy to control and to ensure by professionals. Light in particular plays a crucial role in diurnal mammals since labor usually begins during the early morning and early hours of the day. The hormone of the night is MELATONIN. That is why the first thing we do is lower the blinds and put indirect lights to ensure an atmosphere of darkness and warmth that encourages the woman to disconnect and be present in the process of childbirth in the right environment.

Delivery and postpartum care is performed exclusively at the HM Nuevo Belén Hospital, except for home visits.

Depending on your preferences and possibilities , we offer two options of care: to be cared for within the normal process of the hospital, or to have exclusive dedication from us, that is, from the team of Dr. Suárez and with the midwives of natural childbirth that integrate it, during part of gestation, the entire process of dilation, labor, delivery and immediate postpartum, postpartum and breastfeeding support

This second option takes place in a different space, with the advantage that the mother will be in the same place from the moment of admission until the beginning of the postpartum period. It also has a toilet-shower inside the room, if you wish with a bathtub for dilation or childbirth, support material for dilation and a space for the accompanying person.
